Álvaro Reynoso Chair

The Álvaro Reynoso Honorific Sugar Chair, founded on March 21, 1997 in the Central University “Marta Abreu“ of Las Villas, pays enduring tribute to the renowned Cuban scientist born on November 4, 1829, who dedicated his scientific work to the development of the sugar agribusiness.

The above mentioned Chair promotes the progress with regard to scientific- technical advances and diversification of the agribusiness, supports the scientific research that later become master’s degrees, specialties and PhD programmes, stimulates the implementation of projects and master’s degrees for the future university graduates, being registered the scientific production in magazines of national and international impact, standing out the Centro Azúcar  Magazine of the Central University “ Marta Abreu “ of Las Villas.

Institutional organizations of the territory are implied to the work, among them the Association of Sugar Technicians of Cuba (ATAC) and the AZCUBA Group.
