Abstract

During sugar cane milling process high dynamic loads appear. These loads are produced by the high torques and the great masses and moments of inertia of the mill movement parts, as well as to the variation of the distance among gear centers during operation. This variation together with errors of manufacture, step errors, etc., of the gears that drive the mill, causes that during gearing the conditions of the contact are not the best ones, being able to happen shocks in the teeth. These shocks contribute to accelerate the deterioration of the teeth and to increase dynamic loads on the mills. The determination of the dynamic loads during mill operation
is practically impossible, reason why becomes necessary to use the dynamic modeling for predicting the dynamic behavior of sugar cane mills. In the present paper a dynamic model of the mill is developed. This model allows to evaluate the increase of dynamic load due to the loss of contact between the teeth of the crowns.
