APPLICATIONS OF KNOWLEDGE BASED SYSTEMS TO CICLO DRIVES DESIGN FOR SUGAR INDUSTRY

Nowadays Artificial Intelligence has reach a great international level, It is very common today hear about “Knowledge Based Systems", "Neuronal Nets", etc. Among the “Knowledge Based Systems” the most commons are the “Frame based Systems”, “Rules Based Systems”, “Case Based Systems” and "Hybrid Systems". These techniques have been applied with success in different branches of the knowledge. The “Rules Based Systems” (RBS) take into account certain mathematical expressions and restrictions that characterize the object that is being projected. The “Case Based Systems” (CBS) analyze solved problems in an application domain and by means of a process of adaptation; they find the solution to a new problem. Both systems can be used for gearing design, particularly for internal gears design with great success. However they constitute an unexplored field of Artificial Intelligence Applications. An Inference Machine for solving Rules Based Systems was developed in 1995 at the “Universidad Central de Las Villas” It was denominated “Intelligence System for Helping Designers” (SIAD). By using this expert system, numerous knowledge bases have been elaborated for gear design and particularly for internal gear design
