Abstract

In this article a preliminary assessment and analysisof the kiln system ofCienfuegosCement Factorywas madefocused on one of the mostserious problems of theentitykiln area, dueto unnecessary shutdownscaused by the crust or ring formation mainly ofsulfur (or crude). For thispurpose, various balances based on the different compoundsentering the kiln or formingwithin itwere made, taking sulfur as the main substance ofstudy, in orderto determine several aspects, such as: its influence inring formation, theamountin the system, its main reactions and how to alleviateor control theirincorporation, under regularoperatingconditions and under instable conditions. Withthe use of Microsoft Excel the corresponding balances for various reactions involved inthe behavior of sulfur in the kiln were carried out, which showed that sulfur should behandledclose tothe parameters established forproper operation of the kilnand to avoidunnecessary stops by forming ringswhich incurhuge economic costs.
