Abstract

Integration tools are applied to the process of production of sugar in a factory. Lost of thermal energy are identified. Energy integration is carried out in the multiple effect evaporators. It is obtained that in this process an inefficient use of the energy exists, as well as there is not an appropriate use of currents with thermal quality. An scheme is proposed with balanced energy and with a minimum requirement of utilities. The outlines of two and three cooked masses are analyzed being had a reduction of energy consumption in 16% when the system of two masses is used. Pinch method permitted to obtain a system with low consumptions of exhausted steam, for what means a very useful tool and of necessary use, because it offers the possibility to visualize where they are the biggest energy potentials inside the process and this way to be able to obtain a net of recovery of heat with minimum consumptions of utilities.
