Abstract

In this paper a comparison between two methods for estimating meassurement uncertainty and its effect in mass and energy balances in sugar mills is carried out. It was developed in Agramonte sugar mill, during ten days of January 2002. Monte Carlo simulation method and ISO-GUM method were used for obtaining uncertainty. By applying hipothesys test both methods were compared. It was demostrated either Monte Carlo method or ISO-GUM method can be used successfully. A spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel was elaborated for developing this complex task.
