ANALYSIS OF THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE WITHIN CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Keywords:
thermal energy storage, circular economy, methodologyAbstract
This study presents a new methodology developed to evaluate and improve the sustainability of energy systems that include thermal energy storage (TES) in the
concept of circular economy. This methodology is developed together by three research groups from three Spanish universities that have the objective of applying it to different cases where to include TES in different industrial and building applications. This methodology aims at avoiding the biggest drawback of other known methodologies, such as the life cycle analysis (LCA), the lack of data needed in the design step of processes or products. Similarly, the equilibrium between reliability, quality, and cost is expected.
