In our country, the aqueous resources have being affected in some way for the wastewater discharges from human slums or population centres, the agriculture and industry activities some of them with deficient treatments. The industrial wastewaters have for their self offensive properties that can be transmitted to the receptor being where they are discharged. The study of physical, chemical and biological properties of wastewaters is important not only for estimating the environmental problems that they could cause if they are spilled inadequately in some receiving water body but for designing, controlling and operating the different wastewaters treatment processes too. In this paper a methodology for the selection of the industrial wastewaters treatment system in dependence of the physical-chemical and biological characterization of this wastewater appears. This methodology is exemplified with the wastewaters characterization results of Cuban sugar industries, through the revision of diploma and master thesis works carried out during more than 20 years by students of our educational institution. This methodology is important to develop models and neuronal nets that are used in artificial intelligent techniques. Finally, it is recommended that the selection of the industrial wastewaters treatment system must be based on the technical analysis combined with economic analysis, in order to select the best alternative and it is distinguished in the case in which the wastewater characteristics advise to make physical and chemical treatment.
