The sugar industry has been involved in a set of socio- economical transformations that have changed its position in the Cuban managerial system. This leads to the search and application of new management approaches to assume the new challenges
of this process. This article proposes as main objective to enchance reflection about how important is to apply new management approaches in the sugar organizations so the elements that add value to the process can be identified and change adaption can
be eased. In this work, a background of the main management system traditionally used in the sector is given, it is also analyzed the real situation and the importance of adopting these new approaches in order to contribute to the organizational development of the sector.
