Abstract

Fish processing requires large amounts of water, which is used in equipment washing and in raw material cleaning. In addition water is used as storage and cooling mean before and during processing. The Business Unit of Base (UEB) "Induvilla", in Santa Clara, lacks of an adequate liquid residuals treatment system. The purpose of this research is to propose an adequate system for liquid residuals treatment. Annually this entity has a consumption of 21200 m3 of water and generates 67.45 m3 / day of liquid waste with high pollutant load. The values of COD and BOD5 determined were 1000 and 486 mg / L, respectively, which violate NC 27: 2012. For this reason, the implementation of an anaerobic-facultative lagoons system is required to remove 90% of the BOD5, the system will occupy an area of 228.3 m2 . The installation could be carried out 200 meters from the outlet of the residuals from the septic tank where there is a terrain, rectangular with an area of 160 x 500 meters. To transport the waste, an SMF 200/2 / 2-80H A0CT-EX pump will be used. The total investment estimated for the treatment system is $ 13749.83.
