Abstract

The atmospheric contamination implies an enormous social cost for the impact in the decrease of the human being life quality. To frequently mitigate these effects leaves of the experience of the most advanced countries, being necessary to keep in mind the peculiar characteristics of each city, those that determine the measure that the primary pollutants become in the atmosphere, to find the most effective remedies. In this work the incidence of diverse pollutants is evaluated on the different breathing illnesses that commonly affect the population, specifically bronchial asthma. According to the absolute figures of production of the most important industrial lines they are in the iron and steel industry the pieces of fused steel, construction materials, machineries and equipments for the sugar industry and other industries as well as the vehicular fleet, boilers and other equipments. The work allowed to conclude that Santa Clara's City has an appropriate environmental quality, evidenced by the values of the determinations carried out by the researchers team of the Central University of Las Villas and other centers of the county, being the pollutant concentrations below the permissible levels during practically the whole year, but that taking into account the big efforts that the
government carries out to guarantee and excellent health for the whole population, should stay a strict surveillance on the parameters of interest so that the possible incidence of breathing illnesses are minimized in the mentioned Cuban City.
