RISK ANALYSIS OF A PLANT FOR THE PRODUCTION OF VULCANIZED RUBBER

Introduction:
Rubber compounds are essential in our country due to their high demand and versatility in industrial applications. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a plant for the production of vulcanized rubber using technological risk analysis tools that ensure its safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Objective:
To evaluate the technological risks during the design phase of the plant for the production of vulcanized rubber, proposing modifications or determining its feasibility.
Materials and Methods:
Two risk assessment tools were used: the Hazop method and the risk matrix, supported by the AROJAM 1.0 software. The process involved the participation of seven experts, a confidence level of 99%, a precision of 10%, and a margin of error of 1%. A total of 113 deviations were analyzed, classifying them into risk zones according to their severity.
Results and Discussion:
The results showed that none of the 113 deviations analyzed were located in the red zone, indicating the absence of critical or unacceptable risks. 43% of the deviations were classified as “tolerable”, 31% as “acceptable”, and 26% as “undesirable”. This suggests that, although there are no unacceptable risks, it is necessary to implement corrective measures to manage deviations in the “tolerable” and “undesirable” zones, thus optimizing the safety and efficiency of the process.
Conclusions:
The project is viable, but it is recommended to apply corrective actions to mitigate the identified risks, ensuring the safe and sustainable operation of the vulcanized rubber production plant.
