Abstract

The operation of a production facility has an important effect on efficiency; therefore it is upmost importance to find the best possible scheduling. Due to the practicality, the issue of scheduling batch processes has gained growing interest in recent decades and many approaches have been published to solve a wide variety of scheduling problems. In the present paper first the different types of programming problems are overviewed, and then the advantages and disadvantages of available methods for scheduling batch processes are summarized.
