BIOLOGICAL NUTRIENT APPLICATION FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN TEXTIL INDUSTRY “DESEMBARCO DEL GRANMA” EVALUATION
Keywords:
textile industry, activated sludge, biological nutrientAbstract
Introduction:
“Desembarco del Granma” textile factory has a liquid waste treatment system using activated sludge. Fluctuations in these waters flow cause an organic loads deficit. It is necessary to meet microorganism’s nutritional needs in process.
Objective:
To evaluate the feasibility of applying CENTERFOOD XL to improve wastewater treatment system in the textile factory "Desembarco del Granma".
Materials and methods:
CENTERFOOD XL (1 g/L of wastewater) (COLORCENTER CENTERFOOD XL, 2016) was used as nutrient for wastewater from the textile factory. The treatment effectiveness was evaluated by the suspended volatile solids (SSV). Results were processed with Statgraphics software.
Results and Discussion:
Dependence between SSV with nutrient concentration, time and production plants working was obtained. After 15 days without working production plants, SSV are 1712.8 and 3068.25 mg/L without and with nutrients addition respectively. The investment is $ 51253.58. Receiving bodies contamination decreases, effluent Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) values comply with the established in (NC 27, 2012).
Conclusions:
One gram of CENTERFOOD XL should be added per residual water liter of, in treatment plant, if there are breaks superior to fifteen days, and SSV are above 3000 mg/L. Flow system investment cost is $ 51253.58. Nutrient supply every fifteen days is
1200.19 kg and it costs $ 3360.54.
