EXFOLIATING CREAM WITH OIL AND MORINGA OLEÍFERA ECOTYPE PLAIN SEED HUSK PREPARATION

Introduction:
Moringa oleifera is an India native oleaginous plant. Its seed has a high quality, due to its behenic acid and oleic acid content, and its polyunsaturated low level, it becomes an excellent base for cosmetic industry. The peel that is discarded is rich in elements, so these particles included in cosmetic, will “scratch” eliminating dead cells formed layer.
Objective:
To elaborate a new cosmetic product with exfoliating characteristics using Moringa oleifera ecotype Plain seeds oil and peel.
Materials and methods:
Moringa ecotype Plain seed oil extraction is mechanically performed. Vegetable oil main indices, as well as its fatty acids composition are determined. Shell composition is determined using quantitative methods.
Results and Discussion:
Moringa oleifera ecotype Plain oil was obtained with 23% yield based on dry seed mass. Indices that characterize a vegetable oil have similar values to those reported were determined. Peel is characterized and exfoliating cream is made with seeds peel and oil. Exfoliating cream quality tests allow to establish product specifications that comply with Cuban standards for these purposes.
Conclusions:
The exfoliating cream made following Suchel Camacho's procedures with the oil obtained and the peel of the aforementioned seeds presents quality indexes similar to commercial products.
